Official Opening of
St.Stephen's Residential Care Home Sensory Garden in Worcester
A new
sensory garden has been opened to enhance the lives of residents at St.Stephen's Residential Care Home in Worcester.
The garden was officially opened by Paul Damari and with him his wife Sandra on Wednesday 14th May, 2008.
The day was warm and sunny with just a gentle east breeze. Everyone enjoyed the opening with refreshments laid on.
There was a lovely atmosphere to the event, everyone present was jolly and pleased to be part of this special occasion.
Sensory gardens are designed to ensure a large range of sensory experiences within close proximity. These types of
garden are often designed to support the needs of groups with special needs.
Peter Gill, Director of
Care and Supported Housing at Festival Housing is very proud to see the garden become reality. "This sensory garden
is proving to be a huge success with our residents here at St Stephen's Care Home, during this fantastic weather it has
been very beneficial for our residents to be outside and experience the sights and scents of spring".
The garden includes plants that are highly
fragranced and have bright colours so all can enjoy the area. The pathways and flower beds are fully accessible with wheelchair
access and handrails.
