Message from the Director of Operations
We have all witnessed, since the first introduction of the air ambulance scheme in 1991, the tremendous comitment
from many thousands of people to ensure it continues to be a real success story and to be there if any of us require the skill
of the pilots and air crew paramedics. I have been privileged to be there from day one and have seen the highs and lows when
we first commenced this tremendous scheme. The aircraft have now complete 20,000 missions, bringing the best skills in pre-hospital
care to the public when they really need it.
The people who get involved in fund raising for the County
Air Ambulance are the real stars because they continue to give financial support, as without their generosity and dedication
the County Air Ambulance charity could not operate. In this changing world of health care provision with specialised hospitals
the Air Ambulance is being used even more to transfer patients between them. This reduces the time for patients to get to
definitive care, which enhances their recovery. We have to continue to look forward to make sure we keep this valuable resource
available to the public and believe me there is never anything more distressing than a loved one being injured or being taken
suddenly ill, this is when the skills of the aircrew paramedics makes a real difference.
I am extremely
grateful to A&E Fire Equipment Limited as when we get a publication like Call Red it gives me the opportunity to say thank
you very much to everyone involved in the County Air Ambulance Scheme.
Robert J. Seaward Director
of Operations.
